The new year is well underway now. So far, the year is tracking much the same as the previous year ended with many of the trends continuing.

It’s mid-November which means we’re starting to see the 2024 predictions trickle out. It’s an amusing and humbling tradition where all “sell-side” analyst teams are obliged to offer up their thoughts on the year ahead.
Whats working?
Early morning on the 3rd of October I did my brief scan of overnight market action. With a modest degree of amazement, I saw the following summary of U.S. markets:

Lessons Learned
As expected, the Federal Reserve chose to increase official rates by a further 0.75% at their July meeting. This follows on from last meeting’s 0.75% and is the fourth consecutive rate hike.
